What's hiding under the mill?
A walkout lower level with its own alley entrance, still filled with pieces of an 1804 water-powered mill, waiting for its next use.
The door in the alley
Every good speakeasy starts with a door you have to know about.
Off Main Street, down the side alley, a single unmarked door opens directly into the lower level. No signage. No lobby. Guests step out of the alley and into the mill. It is the kind of entrance a speakeasy concept is usually built around, and here it already exists.
Look through the glass
Inside, a glass window looks straight into the original mill workings. The gears, shafts and stonework that powered Garrett’s Mill are still in place, a few feet from where guests would be standing with a drink in hand. Look down through the glass and you can see the water moving beneath the building.
One of the property's most interesting opportunities
The walkout lower level may be one of the property’s most interesting opportunities. The space has its own private side entrance, historic mill artifacts and pieces of the building’s original history.
A unique viewing area looks toward the original water-powered mill workings, allowing the history of the building to potentially become part of the atmosphere rather than simply something described on a plaque. The lower level also provides direct access to the deck overlooking the waterfall.
Imagine What This Could Become
Imagine opening the lower level on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Guests arrive before their dinner reservation through the alley door.
They have a cocktail or craft beer beside the glass, with the old mill lit behind it.
